Konawaena quarterback Keoki Alani and wide receiver Zedekiah Anahu-Ambrosio were named to ScoringLive’s 2023 All-Hawaii Division I football watchlist late Wednesday evening. The selections come as no surprise, as both players served as central contributors to Konawaenas’s first state championship in 2022.

Alani, a former All-State selection, set BIIF history in 2022 with the most passing yards and touchdowns in a single season — throwing for 3,408 yards, 50 touchdowns and completing 71% of his attempts.

Anahu-Ambrosio, another All-State pick, was Alani’s top target in the Wildcats’ championship season, catching 72 passes for 1,083 yards and 22 scores. Recently transferring to Bishop Gorman in Nevada, the star wideout was reeled back to the island to play for Konawaena in his junior season. Anahu-Ambrosio has received collegiate offers from Division I programs such as Hawaii, Brigham Young, Washington State, San Diego State and Nevada.

The two standouts will begin their quest for a back-to-back state title in the Wildcats’ season opener Friday night against Long Beach Poly at Konawaena.
